Types of Medical Ventilator

Ventilator is a kind of vital medical equipment that can replace, control or change a person's normal physiological breathing, increase lung ventilation, improve respiratory function, reduce respiratory work consumption, prevent and treat respiratory failure, reduce complications, and save and prolong the life of patients.

Medical ventilators are mainly used in hospitals with complex functions, and can be used in various conditions. Medical ventilators generally can be divided into the following types according to their functions:
1. Invasive ventilator
Invasive ventilator is the ventilator known to most people, mainly used for ICU, suitable for patients with slight self-respiratory ability. This kind of ventilator needs intubation.
2. Medical non-invasive ventilator
Non-invasive ventilator is mainly used in respiratory medicine, mainly to treat some patients with respiratory diseases.
3. Pediatric ventilator
Pediatric ventilators are mainly suitable for infants and young children aged 0-3, and the functions and frequencies can be divided into: high frequency and regular frequency (Because infants and young children have a higher breathing rate than adults), invasive and non-invasive, two-level and single-level.
4. Emergency ventilator
Emergency ventilator is mainly used for emergency treatment, and the patient's use time is relatively short.
5. High-frequency jet ventilator
High-frequency jet ventilator is suitable for otolaryngology, using jet strong airflow and high-frequency breathing times to treat patients.

In modern clinical medicine, the ventilator, as an effective means to artificially replace the autonomous ventilation function, has been widely used in respiratory failure caused by various reasons, anesthesia and respiratory management during major operations, respiratory support treatment and emergency resuscitation. It plays a very important role  in the field of modern medicine.
